The new Law on Foreign Affairs, which will be proposed to the Government of the Republic of Serbia in the days to come, introduces some changes in the organization of the diplomatic service, in order to improve the work of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the network of diplomatic and consular missions of the Republic of Serbia abroad.

Professionalism, experience and knowledge of foreign languages, by opinion of Foreign Minister Ivan Mrkić, shall be the main criteria when selecting a diplomats. The same principles will apply for their involvement abroad and appointing ambassadors.

Minister Mrkić expects the new law to be a good basis for further work on the professionalization of diplomatic service, and improving the image of Serbia abroad.
